Event Details

It is our huge honor to help Tonewood Brewing debut their wonderful beer in Pennyslvania, on Monday, March 12 from 5-7pm in our back bar. Straight out of Oaklyn, NJ, Tonewood is a family business with major brewing chops. Known for their hazy, New England style IPAs, this brewery delivers in a wide range of styles, which will be represented in this draft-centric event. Taylor, Eli, Ryan, and Jake from Tonewood are joining us for their big Philly debut. This gathering is pay-as-you-go and unticketed. Tonewood Brewing Philadelphia Premiere at Monk's Cafe DRAFT LIST Mullet Cut 5.4% ABV - Keller Pilsner - Pilsner malt, German hops, cellaring temperatures, and a little bit of time combined to make this easy drinking, dry-hopped Keller-inspired Pilsner Freshies 5.0% ABV - American Pale Ale - Freshies is a soft and crushable Pale Ale brewed with Wheat and hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, and Cascade hops. Fuego 6.2% ABV - Cloudy IPA - Dank and juicy, this IPA was inspired by the New England IPAs of Vermont and Massachusetts. The beer is opaque and cloudy. The hops shine, both in the aroma and bitterness. Belgian Dark Strong 9.4% - Dark Strong - Dark and warming. Made with plenty of specialty malts, this beer has notes of dark stone fruits and molasses. Our house Belgian yeast strain dries the beer out just enough to balance these malts. Barrel Bound 7.8% ABV - American Stout - A smooth, low carbonated mouthfeel is full of roasted malts flavors, including notes of cocoa and bitter-sweet baker's chocolate. Hop additions are present but not dominant, providing a mild counterpoint to the sweet base. The finish presents dry roasted flavors. Powder Daze 8.8% ABV - DIPA - A double-dry hopped, American Double IPA, Powder Daze is brewed with a heavy dose of malted Oats and English Marris Otter malts giving it a smooth body with a great malt backbone for an immense amount of hops in the kettle and again during the two dry-hop additions, which includes Lupulin Powder. Double Dry-Hopped Fuego 6.2% ABV - Cloudy IPA - This variant of Fuego uses twice the amount of hops during the dry-hop portion of the brewing cycle. DDH Fuego is full of juicy citrus aromas that softens an already crushable IPA into an exceptionally special drinking experience. Belgian Golden Strong 2016 10.2% ABV - Belgian Golden Strong - Without us telling you, you may never be able to tell this beer is as big as it is. Soft and inviting notes of pear and white grape make this a particularly easy beer to return to, but be careful. At 10.2% it can sneak up on you fast. 2016 vintage. Belgian Golden Strong 2017 10.2% ABV - Belgian Golden Strong - Without us telling you, you may never be able to tell this beer is as big as it is. Soft and inviting notes of pear and white grape make this a particularly easy beer to return to, but be careful. At 10.2% it can sneak up on you fast. 2017 vintage.
